Children have a lot of stuff. Clothes, shoes, books, toys, bedding, feeding supplies, decorations, ect. . . They collect this stuff through family and friends buying it, hand me downs, and sometimes what seems like magic. Then they outgrow this stuff and the adults are left to figure out what to do with it while working on getting new age appropriate stuff.
Well, that’s where the idea for this event came from. We wanted to pass along the stuff our children outgrew that still had life in it and collect a couple new to us age appropriate items. We were so thankful for all the gifts and hand me downs our children had received that we wanted to continue with the giving spirit. We wanted to raise money for a charity and donate the remaining items to those in need. Finally, we wanted to gather the children for a play date. So we created this event.
How to participate:
Step 1: go through the kids stuff and pack up all the outgrown items to donate
Step 2: drop off this donation to your local contact person to be sorted by size, gender, and type (if this is not possible, bring stuff presorted 30 minutes early to event)
Step 3: arrive at event with a monetary donation of $5 for the charity and a shopping bag
Step 4: gather new to you stuff
Step 5: repeat next time
How to participate if you are a first time parent or already got rid of all your kids stuff:
Step 1: arrive early at event with a refreshment to share with group, a monetary donation of $5 for the charity, and a shopping bag
Step 2: gather new to you stuff
Step 3: follow 5 steps next time
